You have arrived at a special destination, a guesthouse environment made fascinating with an extensive collection of fine arts located in tropical paradise.
Author's has been host to newcomers and seasoned Key Westers for more than twenty years and has recently been revitalized.
The main compound, accessed through a double iron gate, consists of three buildings, a swimming pool, decks and garden areas. Two of the buildings are small houses, designed in a familiar Bahamian Conch style. These historic houses, built around the turn of the century are rented as individual units. The main house, also with Bahamian influence of French doors and Bahama shutter, has rooms that open out to the pool area and others that are accessed via the upper level sundeck. All rooms in the main house open directly to the outside.
The two Conch Houses occupy their original sites. They started out as the living quarters of cigar makers, who enjoyed a thriving business in Key West during the early 1900's. Both have a living room with twin day bed, kitchen, bedroom and bath and private porch.
The ground floor of the main house features three pool-level rooms opening to the outside through double French doors. Just steps away from the swimming pool and pool deck.
The upper level of the Main House has a sundeck wrapping around two sides.
