Our cottage, which is pictured by the pool, contains 3 separate rooms, each with direct outside access. We have recently learned that the cottage was moved to our property from a site on Duval Street and that it is considerably older than the main house. Given the 1884 vintage of the main house, the cottage stands as one of the oldest structures on the island.
#1 - Flamingo Room has one queen size bed. The furniture is white wicker. Half of a flock of flamingos have taken up residence to keep you company. Mona Flamingo is the head bird. The bathroom has both a shower and a tub.
#2 - Key West Room has a king-size bed and a garden view. The bath has a shower and a tub. The mood is tropical and the accessories reflect Key West attractions. This room shares a sitting porch with room #3.
#3 - Marilyn Monroe Room is done in lavender (What is she doing in Key West?). It has a double bed and a view of the pool area. The bath has both a shower and a tub.
The Amethyst Room, Florida Room, Egyptian Room & Caribbean Room have access off a common hallway on the second floor of the main house. The hallway is open on either end and extends from a front veranda to the rear veranda. The hallway can be reached from outside stairs at either the side of the house or at the rear. All rooms have private access.
#4 - Amethyst Room is a charming room with a queen-size bed tucked away on the side of the house. It is often used by honeymooners and for that special getaway, perhaps an anniversary. There is a shower in the bathroom.
#5 - Florida Room is a light and airy room with plenty of sunshine. This room features a queen-size bed. The furniture is wicker which adds to the light feeling. The view is of palm trees and there is a feeling of being outdoors. The bath for this room is detached but remains private.
#6 - Egyptian Room, so named because of the theme, is our largest room. It is located at the front of the house and has windows on 3 sides. The walls and ceiling are of Dade County pine. In addition to the 2 double beds, it also has a sofa. The bath for this room is detached but private. This is one of our most popular rooms.
#7 - Caribbean Room is our least expensive room. It has one double bed. The view is of the front gardens. The room, while small, is charming. There is a shower in the bathroom.
#8 - Sunflower Room is on the left side of the second floor of the main house. It has one double bed. It is very bright and cheery. You may even find a blue parrot or 2 in this room. The bath in this room is spacious and has a shower.
#9 - Maloney Room is handicapped accessible and located on the first floor at the very front of the main house. There is a ramp which leads directly from the sidewalk to the door of this room. It contains 2 double beds and a love seat. The bath has a large shower stall which will accommodate either a wheelchair or a shower chair.
#10 - Irish Room also contains 2 double beds and has a small sitting area. The accessories are directly from the Old Sod. This room happily accommodates persons of other lineages and is located on the first floor of the main house next to room #9. The bathroom has both a shower and a tub.
